Forecasting of forest

By using growth functions, outdated forest maps of stem volume or biomass can be updated to predict the current state of the forest. Additionally, changed forest can be masked out using satellite data, to avoid false decisions.

Forest volume 2012 to the left, and forecast to 2019 to the right. The 2012 data are based on airborne laser scanning and reference plots from the field.
