Over the years I have gained some experience from different topics. With a genuine interest in IT, computers and programming, I have worked as web programmer, system administrator, and computer engineer – knowledge that I still use a lot every day. An education in engineering physics taught me to organize my learning and pick up vast amounts of complex knowledge quickly. As PhD student, I learnt about science and how some things can be true or false – and the important meaning every single word has. In some contexts, there is no room for any interpretation beyond what is literally stated. The continuous work as researcher has kept guiding me to form research questions that can be answered using scientific methods, empirical data and statistical analyses. Other important skills that I use on a daily basis include reading and writing – a lot. For example, writing research applications, scientific papers, presentations, and project reports. I also have to keep track on economy, establish budgets, follow-up results, manage projects and similar. The role of communicator is another part of my work, both to convince funding organizations about the need of proposed research, exchange knowledge with colleagues and other researchers, and share findings to the wider society. More topic related skills include, e.g., geospatial data, GIS analyses, image processing, deep learning, modeling, sampling and inventory, forest management, ecology, and biodiversity. Below, I list some parts in summary.
